Pulp and paper production has traditionally been very energy-intensive and water-intensive. Increasing operating costs and ever stricter legal requirements therefore often require ecological optimisation of industrial processes. As a result, water cycles are becoming more and more closed and treatment plants are needed to treat these circulation waters. This also results in concentrated water and waste water for which existing water treatment plants and waste water treatment plants are often no longer suitable. Moreover, there are increasingly stringent environmental requirements for the discharge of waste water, for example in accordance with the Waste Water Ordinance Annexes 19 and 28, which entail significantly more complex or extended treatment steps. Ultimately, new or expanded treatment concepts are required.

To meet such requirements, the globally active H+E Group draws on an extraordinary wealth of experience acquired over more than 40 years. Currently, plants we have developed treat more than one million cubic metres of waste water per year worldwide. The generation of process water and the proven, stable and energy-optimised waste water treatment processes are also part of our expertise.

For areas of application such as these, we rely on our FLOCOPAC®.L flocculation and precipitation reactor. It is based on the principle of optimised flocculation and precipitation by means of contact sludge recirculation and stands out with close to ideal flocculation and multi-zone clarification. We developed special honeycomb modules that take over the final stage of fine clarification. With our FLOCOPAC®.L, we replace the conventional sedimentation in combination with different filters.


„We are unsure whether an anaerobic biological process is actually suitable for our circumstances. Are there less expensive and more stable systems? What types of alternatives can you recommend to us?“


As a rule, the H+E teams use the proven, robust BIOFIT®.H floating bed process. It was specially developed for the biological pre-treatment of highly contaminated waste water from the paper industry for which anaerobic treatment is not yet an option. Regardless of the respective geometry, BIOFIT®.H can also be integrated into existing basins of a waste water treatment plant.


„We need a cost-effective and proven ventilation system. What ventilation system can you recommend and offer us?“


Our medium-bubble AEROFIT®.V ventilation system is ideally suited for this purpose. It is characterised by an especially high oxygen yield, long service life and a large control range with constant efficiency. This in-house development therefore has decisive advantages over membrane ventilation systems. Our AEROFIT®.V can be used as surface aeration or in spiral flow, and is highly resistant to precipitation and blocking.
